Biographies:
Dr Lisa Godson is a cultural historian, writer and curator with a specialism in material culture, architecture and design. She is director of the MA in Design History and Material Culture at the National College of Art and Design, a unique postgraduate programme in partnership with the National Museum of Ireland. Her books include Modern Religious Architecture in Germany, Ireland, and Beyond (with Kathleen James Chakraborty); Uniform: Clothing and Discipline in the Modern World (with Jane Tynan); Making 1916: Visual and Material Culture of the Easter Rising (with Joanna Brück). Godson often works with creative practitioners including Still Films on the award-winning documentary feature Build Something Modern based on her research into the work of Irish architects in Africa c.1948-1975; the artist Jesse Jones for the Irish pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Art and as research collaborator with Jones and Sarah Browne on the major Arts Council of Ireland 1916 Centenary project ‘In the Shadow of the State.’ 

Ruby Wallis is a visual artist who works with photography and the moving image, she lectures at The Burren College of Art. In 2022 Wallis published the Photobook A Woman Walks Alone at Night with a Camera in collaboration with writer, Phillina Sun. Selected exhibitions include The Lab, Gallery of Photography Ireland, PhotoIreland Festival, BX Gallery, The Dock,Vondelbunker: Amsterdam, Ormston House, TULCA, Perlman Teaching Museum and Solas Nua, USA. Selected publications include: The Journal of Artistic Research,The New Yorker magazine, British Journal of Photography, Winter Papers vol.6 and 7. Her work is held in the collections at Rochester Art Centre, USA and National University of Ireland. She is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland and Galway City Council and is on the board of directors at Engage Studios, Galway.

Sophie White is a writer and podcaster from Dublin. She has published several books, the most recent of which is Corpsing: My Body and Other Horror Shows was published by Tramp Press in 2021. She is co-host of the chart-topping comedy podcasts, Mother Of Pod and The Creep Dive. She is a weekly columnist for The Sunday Independent. 

Dr. Phillina Sun is an American writer based in the Northwest of Ireland. Her most recent publication is A Woman Walks Alone at Night, With a Camera (2022), with Ruby Wallis. 


Dr Mary Condren , Th.D. thealogian and feminist theorist, is director of Woman Spirit Ireland. She teaches at the Centre for Gender and Women’s Studies, Trinity College Dublin and is a former Research Associate in the Women and Religion Programme at Harvard University. With initial degrees in theology, sociology, social anthropology, religion and society, she was the first graduate in the Harvard doctoral programme: Religion, Gender and Culture, 1994. Her book, The Serpent and the Goddess: Women, Religion, and Power in Celtic Ireland was published by Harper Collins, San Francisco (1989) and republished (2002) by New Island Books, Dublin. Her current work explores the figure of Brigit through her Old European roots, Lives of Saint Brigit, and saga literature, as well as her associated artefacts, rituals, symbols, and trace hauntings of the Cailleach, and her cailleacha. 

Catherine Marshall is a curator and art writer, Joint-Editor of Vol V. of the Royal Irish Academy’s Art and Architecture of Ireland, Vol. V. Twentieth Century and former Head of Collections at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (1995 -2007). She has lectured at TCD, UCD and the NCAD and was Visual Arts adviser to the Arts Council’s Touring Experiment, 2007–8. She is a founding member of Na Cailleacha, a collective, composed of eight women artists dedicated to examining issues of ageing, creativity, collaboration and gender as we age. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in the History of Art by University College Dublin in 2019.
