Learn how to design simple objects in Tinkercad, slice and 3D print them - including a simple print to take home*
3D printing has become more reliable and accessible than ever. If you've been curious in how it works and would like to try it for yourself, then this is your chance.
H91 Maker Space is running a 3D Printing Workshop to introduce new comers into the world of 3D Printing. This will start with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) where you create your 3D digital objects using the free Tinkercad software. Then these 3D Objects are sliced, ie. converted into the file format understood by your 3D printer. Then we will clean and prep the 3D printers, load a coloured fillament and watch your digital creations become reality.
Our aim for the workshop is for everyone to create a keychain charm with their name in Tinkercad which we will 3D print in a single solid colour PLA fillament for you to take home. As things can go wrong during a live workshop, we may not be able to print everyone's designs - in which case we will print them afterwards and attendees can pick up their creations when they are finished.
Attendees will have to bring a laptop with working WiFi and web browser - which is where we will run Tinkercad. You can see the exact requirements here. A mouse is also recommended, as it makes CAD work a lot easier. If your battery does not last 3 hours, we recommend bringing your power supply.
The workshop is open to under 18s as young as 13 if they are accompanied by a guardian.
