This Autumn, join our lunchtime webinars to hear from the experts in Ireland on what is causing biodiversity loss, what is being done to address the crisis and what we can do as individuals and communities to get more involved.

Join us on November 5th as we learn more about biodiversity in Ireland, and what actions we should be looking to implement to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. During the day we will hear from various speakers on biodiversity, and hear about what actions can be taken as individuals and communities to stop the decline of nature and the eco-systems that we rely on for our survival. Our first speaker for the day is the wonderful Dr Ursula King, who will give an introduction to biodiversity. She is a long time member of Dublin Naturalists Field Club, whose expertise on biodiversity has been adopted by the All Ireland Pollinator Plan. Ursula has an expertise in botany and has a passion for protecting biodiversity of our plant life, so her intro will be quite unique!Our second speaker is Paula Kearney, Biodiversity Officer for Galway City who will talk about engaging for biodiversity with the council, and the role of the Biodiversity Officer. With ten new Biodiversity Officers being hired across Ireland, this will be a great opportunity to learn more about the role and about action within councils. After lunch, attendees will be invited to share their own projects, ideas and inspiration for community action in a facilitated workshop. Together we will explore what actions are working in local areas, and how they can be achieved or replicated elsewhere. This facilitated knowledge share will allow us all to hear from each other about our own projects, and feed into the creation of a Biodiversity Handbook resource for those who attended. Our final speaker for the day is Eamonn McLoughlin, Director of the Hedge Laying Association of Ireland. He will tell us about hedgerows and biodiversity, and the practicalities involved in laying a hedge. Tea and coffee will be served on arrival, and a light lunch provided. This event has both in person and online tickets available. However, we would encourage you to attend in person if possible so you can get the most from the day, including taking part in Q&amp;As and the workshop, meeting others, and lunch on us. These aspects will not be available through the online option. We hope to see you there!
