The Glass Society of Ireland is made up of people whose interests or professions significantly relate to the specific material of glass.  Drawing from diverse creative and enterprising fields including art, design, craft, research, collecting and the historical context, we are a volunteer-run organisation whose interest in glass provides us with a mutual cause for conversation.It is the primary objective of the Glass Society of Ireland to continue to support established practitioners in Glass whilst fostering new talent. We also aim to create opportunities to communicate with each other and to engage with new audiences. This is achieved through a number of platforms: exhibition-making, holding events such as conferences, workshops and public talks, networking through social media and information distribution through our website, blog and monthly e-bulletin. Through these activities, professional connections are established both nationally and internationally.

GSOI goes to Leitrim

Two days of glass related events by Glass Society of Ireland  in Carrick on Shannon. Join us for workshops, glassy walks and meet ups. All free to attend. 22/23 November 2022

Thousands of bottles are sent to recycling every week from individual pubs all over Leitrim. This workshop aims to focus on glass waste and reuse, to make a small stained glass panel from pub waste. Join one of our glassmaking workshops. See how new applications for glass waste can be evolved to transform and create. No experience needed, we will show you every step of the way with clear instructions. Stained glass workshop Join us at our pop up studio at the Dock Carrick on Shannon, for a stained glass workshop where our expert team will introduce you to different stained glass techniques to make a copper foil (Tiffany) stained glass piece. It’s a unique workshop where everything we make will be made using waste glass pieces.No experience is necessary as our instructors will guide you through understanding glass design, cutting glass to a specific design, grozing and grinding glass shapes so pieces can be soldered to create a unique stained glass piece. All equipment and materials are provided.
