‘In Conversation’ with the artists and Trinity champions of the scholarsMarking the historic installation of the first four new sculptures celebrating women’s scholarship in the Long Room on St Brigid’s Day, the Library is organising an ‘In Conversation’ with the artists and Trinity champions of the scholars in the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts &amp; Humanities Research Institute, 12pm -1.15pm, Thursday, 2nd February 2023.The new sculptures represent the scientist, Rosalind Franklin; the folklorist, dramatist and theatre-founder Augusta Gregory; the pioneering women’s rights advocate Mary Wollstonecraft and the mathematician Ada Lovelace. The new artworks honour the highly significant achievements each person has made, individually, to collective knowledge and human endeavour. They were chosen from more than 500 nominations by Trinity&#x27;s students, staff, and alumni.The artists are Rowan Gillespie, Maudie Brady, Guy Reid and Vera Klute. They will be joined by Vice Provost/Chief Academic Officer, Prof. Orla Sheils, Dean of Arts Humanities &amp; Social Sciences, Prof. Gail McElroy, Professor of Visual Computing, Carol O’Sullivan, and Associate Professor in Drama Studies, Melissa Sihra in a panel discussion on the new sculptures as part of the University’s celebrations around St Brigid’s Day. The event will be moderated by Librarian &amp; College Archivist, Helen Shenton.
