About this Event
This event will include a lay research session, followed by a patient advocate session, where a panel of breast cancer patients and patient advocates will discuss their experience of cancer research, working in public and patient involvement, and their hopes for cancer research in the future.
Programme:
5pm: Registration and coffee (Albert Theatre Atrium)
5.30pm: Welcome address Dr. Robert O'Connor, Head of Research for the Irish Cancer Society
5.40pm: Overview of BREAST-PREDICT Prof. William Gallagher, Director of BREAST-PREDICT
6pm: Research session Using the Needle in a Haystack: The Promise of Blood-Based Biomarkers of Cancer Dr. Roisin Dwyer, National University of Ireland, Galway [15min] Prof. Jacqui Shaw, University of Leicester [15min] [followed by 15min Q&A, Titles TBC]
6.45pm: Patient Advocate session Nothing about me without me: My experience with cancer research Breast cancer patients and patient advocates panel: Ciara Devine, Siobhan Freeney, Sarah McLoughlin, Catherine Casey Facilitator: Marie Ennis-O’Connor
