Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling. Bike Week 2023 will take place from Saturday 13th to Sunday 21st May 2023. A variety of events will be held throughout Ireland.

In this hands-on class, you'll learn essential skills to keep your bike in top shape and ensure smooth, safe rides. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or new to bike maintenance, this workshop is designed to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to perform basic repairs and maintenance on your own bike. All attendees will receive a free puncture repair kit &amp; tyre lever Throughout the workshop, you'll work in a supportive and interactive environment, guided by our experienced instructors. You'll learn about the different parts of a bike, how they function, and how to troubleshoot common issues.Topics covered include:<ol><li>Bike Anatomy: You'll get familiar with the different components of a bike, including the frame, wheels, gears, brakes, and chain. You'll learn how each part works and how to identify and diagnose common problems.</li><li>Basic Bike Maintenance: You'll learn how to perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating your bike, checking tire pressure, and tightening bolts. You'll also learn how to properly clean and care for your bike to prolong its lifespan.</li><li>Tire Repair: Flat tires are a common issue for cyclists, and you'll learn how to repair them quickly and effectively. You'll learn how to remove and replace a tire, patch a tube, and properly inflate it to get you back on the road in no time.</li><li>Brake Adjustment: Properly functioning brakes are crucial for safety, and you'll learn how to adjust different types of brakes, including rim brakes and disc brakes. You'll also learn how to replace brake pads and cables, and how to troubleshoot common brake problems</li><li>Gear Shifting: Gears play a key role in helping you ride efficiently and comfortably, and you'll learn how to adjust and tune your gears for smooth shifting. You'll also learn how to replace gear cables and troubleshoot gear-shifting issues.</li><li>Chain Maintenance: The bike chain is a critical component that requires regular maintenance. You'll learn how to clean, lubricate, and properly tension your chain to extend its lifespan and ensure smooth pedaling.</li><li>Emergency Repairs: You'll learn how to perform on-the-road repairs for common issues such as a broken chain or a bent derailleur, so you can be prepared for unexpected situations while cycling.</li></ol>By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained the skills and knowledge to confidently perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, saving you time and money on trips to the bike shop.
