A musical journey with Spanish guitarist Juan José Manzano, that honours the purest essence of flamenco and its unique cultural heritage

The Instituto Cervantes Dublin joins the Spanish Embassy in the celebration of Mediterranean July: a the trip to the countries of the Mediterraneo that stops at Spain with the presentation of this guitar concert by Juan José Manzano.
Recital de Guitarra Flamenca is a musical journey that honours the purest essence of flamenco and celebrates its profound and unique cultural heritage. Released in May 2023, is a journey back to Juan José Manzano’s roots, to his hometown in the south of Spain, Chiclana de la Frontera. In this album, Manzano tries to capture the purest essence of flamenco through the sound of his guitar.With the special collaboration of Rebeca Sánchez (dance and voice) 

Juan José Manzano, is a Spanish Flamenco guitarist and composer living in Ireland since 2005, where he earns his living as a musician. 
He has been surrounded by Flamenco since he was born and was greatly influenced by his mother singing Flamenco at home. She introduced him to flamenco and the passion he feels for this art form. 

After playing on many stages and flamenco festivals throughout Andalusia, Manzano decided to come to Ireland, where he develops his passion: the showcase and the integration of traditional Flamenco music in Ireland. 

Manzano has composed eight original pieces called palos (name given in Flamenco to the different traditional musical forms. There are more than 50 different palos) from the genealogical tree of Flamenco which, in his opinion, are the most representative ones.

Julio Mediterráneo es un viaje por el Mediterráneo que para en España con la presentación de un concierto de guitarra con el maestro Juan José Manzano. «Recital de Guitarra Flamenca» es un viaje musical que honra la esencia más pura del flamenco y celebra su profunda y maravillosa herencia cultural. Publicado en mayo de 2023, supone un regreso a las raíces de Juan José Manzano, a su pueblo en el sur de España, Chiclana de la Frontera. En este trabajo, Manzano intenta capturar la esencia más pura del flamenco a través del sonido de su guitarra.
Juan José Manzano es guitarrista y compositor flamenco. Vive en Irlanda desde 2005. La música flamenca forma parte de su vida desde una edad muy temprana. Su madre cantaba flamenco y copla todos los días en casa. Ella le enseñó el amor por este arte. 

Después de tocar en muchos escenarios y festivales flamencos por toda Andalucía, decidió venir a Irlanda, donde hoy en día desarrolla su pasión: la exhibición y la integración de la música flamenca en este país.

Para ello, ha compuesto ocho piezas originales. Ha seleccionado los que considera los ocho palos más representativos del árbol genealógico del flamenco. 
Esta actividad forma parte de las actividades realizas en el Instituto Cervantes de Dublín, con motivo de la Presidencia Española del Consejo de la Unión Europea.
