Fringe FUSE: Fragile Edition by Dafe Orugbo

FRINGE LAB = SPACE + SUPPORT FOR DEVELOPING NEW WORK Dublin Fringe Festival identifies, curates and nurtures emerging artists. FRINGE LAB provides year round practical and artistic support, responding to their needs, and indeed those of independent, more established artists. There is huge demand for these supports which are pivotal in shaping the work of a new generation of Irish performing artists, amplifying their presence on the world stage. These artists’ work is devised, demanding collaboration. As the arts sector diverges from individual companies each with its own administration, at a basic level, professional performing artists need somewhere to work. We provide that space, in our new building equipped with two large studios (Studio 1 & Studio 2), a drop in office (Artists' Office) and a writer’s room (the CELL), backed up by access to our own in-house expertise, and an ongoing schedule of events, workshops, masterclasses and resource sharing activities.

Fringe FUSE: Fragile Edition, curated by Dafe OrugboFRINGE LAB are delighted to team up with Dublin Fringe Festival Associate Artist Dafe Orugbo to present Fringe FUSE: Fragile Edition. Join us for an evening of in-person work-in-progress, curated by and MC’d by Dafe with a line-up of Ahmed, With Love, Elkin, Lewwab &amp; Evan Wilson. The act of performing finished work relies on a great deal of vulnerability from the performer and the audience alike. However, the act of performing unfinished work is something of an entirely greater magnitude. A delicate yet imperfect dance that asks for nothing less than complete openness between the participator and their participant; a fragile relationship. It’s in this infirm state that great art and the experiences that come with it are formed. Sculpted and chiselled by each misstep, flubbed line and genuinely fragile moment in the process of creating something amazing. “My favourite kind of art is one that invites audiences to be active participants in its practice. Whether it’s an interactive exhibit or a call-and-response chant at a gig, I love that aspect of the shared experience. This iteration of FUSE is incredibly exciting for me, because the audience isn’t only experiencing a piece but helping to develop and improve upon it.” - Dafe Orugbo, Curator The event will include an Open Mic session giving you the opportunity to come up and perform your work-in-progress. Fringe FUSE is a platform for work in development, please receive all performances in the spirit of scratch. T﻿his event is an 18+ event.
