His sound a chassis of Soul music with the aesthetic and flavours of Jazz, Rock, Funk and Psychedelia.With all of Leon's recorded material for this project thus far being written, arranged, recorded and mixed in his family home studio(an old converted barn) this is as home made as music gets.Leon's Live band The Leon Stax Equation is an act driven by funky drumming with a heavy downbeat, sweet, sometimes irreverent vocals and familiar yet original lyrics. It is music meant to make you feel something. Departing from the modern musical education of virtuosic execution it is perhaps unsurprising in its form, but never boring in its delivery.In the studio a more atmospheric and hypnotic approach is taken with wide, warm pad sounds, analog and tape effects and a live recorded feel that picks up where the Soul and Rock classics of the 1960's left off.
