Session 1: Thinking about Long Term Care.Details: Friday 8th March, 10.30am – 12.00pm The decision to transition to a nursing home/long term care is not an easy one. If you are considering long term care for the person you care for, this session will:• Provide you with language to have timely conversations about long term needs and care• Empower you to have conversations that are clear and kind• Support you to empower your loved one to express their wishes• Support you with any of your own feelings of guilt, anxiety, concern and self-doubt_ ________________________________________________________________Session 2: Transitioning to Long Term CareDetails: Friday 22nd March, 10.30am-12.00pm There are many factors involved in a transition to long term care. Sometimes a move is planned over a period of time, and sometimes it happens suddenly. It can take time for everyone to adjust and to build a new routine.This session will support you to know what to expect both practically and emotionally when you are managing a transition for the person you care for to a nursing home or long term care. You will get tips about how to stay involved, how best to communicate with staff and how to overcome any of your own feelings of guilt, anxiety and doubt, to best support your loved one’s transition.This session will also look at the impact of change and how to cope with your own feelings of grief and loss as your role of family carer changes.Bryan Nolan M.A .is a training and facilitation consultant specialising in Healthcare, a person-centred approach, Teamwork, Life Transitions, End of Life Care, advance care planning and having compassionate conversations. He empowers others to have ordinary conversation about extraordinary things. All attendees to our events/courses/workshops may be contacted by a member of Family Carers Ireland team as we require information, to be held in confidence, for statistical purposed thus ensuring funding for future training, events and activities
