One of Ireland’s best-loved Early Music bands comes together under the HeadFest
Marquee to give you a night of revelry like no other. With lutes, early guitars, viols,
recorder and drums, the sounds of early Irish melodies are brought to life. An
evening of musical energy not to be missed!
This concert includes the joyful interplay of many musical traditions. It is called
Dances and Songs from the Old Gaelic Order and combines music from ancient
manuscripts and the beautiful sounds of the lute, recorder, early guitars, and viola da
gamba.
Come and hear ancient Irish harper tunes, Renaissance lute-songs from England,
and music in the Spanish style inspired by great the musical masters of Flanders.
The Gregory Walkers brings together some of Ireland's leading musicians.
Individually the group's members perform classical, renaissance, baroque,
contemporary, jazz, world, tango and rock music. The group features Laoise O'Brien
(Recorders), Malachy Robinson (Viola Da Gamba), Eamon Sweeney (Lute, Early
Guitars) and guest performer Vlad Smishkewych (Voice, Percussion).
Foot-tapping dances from 400 years ago, songs that made emperors weep, tunes
spun out by early Irish harpers—the Gregory Walkers have it all!
