The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland (NYOI) make a special visit to Galway for a concert on Jan 4th with Symphonic Waves Youth Orchestra

This concert will mark the culmination of the annual NYOI winter residential course which this year includes a first-time joint collaboration with Symphonic Waves. NYOI will be joined by Symphonic Waves and conducted by Gearóid Grant and Professor James Cavanagh, with a full symphonic programme including works by Schubert, Beethoven, Berlioz and Elgar. Symphonic Waves is an exciting emerging West of Ireland youth orchestra, formed as part of the cultural programme for Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture and managed by Music Generation Galway County. The orchestra was formed in 2017 as a string orchestra and developed into a full Symphony Orchestra during 2019.
