Safe to Create: Artists & Freelance Arts Workers Board Training (Dublin)

SAFE TO CREATE is a Dignity at Work programme. Our aim is to impact change on the culture and practices of the arts and creative sectors in Ireland to provide safer working conditions for all workers. This programme is managed by Irish Theatre Institute, on behalf of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and in partnership with the Arts Council, Screen Ireland and Minding Creative Minds.Through the Safe to Create programme, we are looking to transform culture and practices through training, information, voluntary compliance and certification, and provide key support for victims/survivors in the areas of reporting, counselling, and legal advice.

Who should attend? This Board Training provides a comprehensive overview of the role of not-for-profit board members and is tailored towards artists and freelance arts workers who are prospective, new, and existing board members looking to strengthen their role on the Board.The course covers:<ul><li>the roles and responsibilities of charity trustees/board directors under Company Law and Charity Law</li><li>board meetings</li><li>board papers</li><li>reviewing the board</li><li>board relationships</li><li>conflicts of interest</li><li>governance and management</li><li>and the Charities Governance Code.</li></ul>Trainer: Gráinne MaddenGráinne is an expert in corporate responsibility and business ethics and an experienced trainer and facilitator. She runs a specialist consultancy helping businesses avoid problems, enhance reputation and harness their power to improve society. She is also an experienced Trustee, Chair and Company Secretary.Cost: This workshop is free.Following registration, a member of the Safe to Create team will be in touch to confirm that this workshop is suitable for you.In partnership with Boardmatch.
