The South East Local Enterprise Office's, in partnership with 3 Counties Energy Agency (3cea), have identified a need to work with businesses in the region to assist them in transitioning to a Low Carbon Economy. Low carbon translates into savings in Water, Energy, Waste, Procurement and Transport management.Kilkenny Local Enterprise Office is holding a breakfast briefing to showcase to businesses what they can do. Local enterprises in Kilkenny will talk about what they have done in improving the environmental and cost competitiveness of the business.Countrystyle Foods is a well know brand of Irish meats. Rory Williams MD of CSF will talk about making the business more sustainable from a cost competitiveness and marketing point of view. This will include information on a number of projects they have completed to save energy at their site including a large LED upgrade and plans they have to make the business more sustainable. Trudies Kitchen supplies packaged foods to a number of large retails across the southeast. They have a strong focus making their business more sustainable and are part of the Origin Green programme. Trudie Power will give an overview of what they have completed in terms of waste management in achieving zero waste going to landfill, reducing water consumption by up to 50%, route planning for deliveries and implementing a LED retrofit to reduce energy costs. 3cea Experts will give a presentation on supports available to SMEs and how to access theses supports and grants.Sustainable competitive advantage is the key to business success. It is the force that enables a business to have greater focus, more sales, better profit margins, and higher customer and staff retention than competitors.Registration for the event starts at 8am in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny.
