n the third of the Identities in Transformation Postgraduate Seminar Series, we interrogate how the digital age has expanded the number and variety of platforms by which we immerse ourselves in and negotiate with the world. The presence of these newer platforms of expression and engagement does not nullify older modes, but rather enhances them and casts them in a new light, thereby making multiplicity a possibility. This in turn affects how we envision, construct and modify our notion of “self”. Still, important questions remain: What is the nature of the promises made by newer technologies? And what does the extent of technological advance reveal about us and our sense of identity?
This seminar has been organized by Amelia McConville (School of English), Elliot Mills (School of English), Sadhbh McGrath (School of Law), and Kara Schechtman (School of Philosophy). They will be joined by Dr PJ Wall (School of Computer Science and Statistics/ADAPT Centre) and Dr Maria Grazia Porcedda (School of Law).
