About this event

Ballymun Library will host a free public lecture on the history of Marlborough House, Glasnevin by Dr James Curry. Formerly a teaching training college, Marlborough House in Glasnevin was registered as a detention centre for boys in 1944. This online talk will discuss Marlborough House's subsequent history, when the centre was plagued by negligent management and regularly provoked criticism. In 1972, Marlborough House closed its doors and was demolished, soon to be replaced by the Headquarters of Met Eireann.

Dr James Curry is a Dublin City Council Historian in Residence (North West Area).
