Advanced Bookbinding Weekend Course
A two day advanced bookbinding and enclosure workshop for artists who want to learn advance bookbinding techniques.
Advanced Book Binding
5 – 6 September
Tutor: Elize de Beer
Join Printmaker and Bookbinder Elize de Beer on the advanced bookbinding and enclosure workshop weekend for artists. The workshop is perfect for artists who want to learn advance bookbinding techniques to add to their artistic practice.
On the first day you will learn to make an elevated non-adhesive Japanese stab binding and start making the text block for a traditional hardcover book that includes different papers and complex page layouts.
On the second day you create the cover for the hardcover book which will include spine and front cover recessed labels. After assembling the hardcover book we will learn how to create a slip case enclosure for the book.
Throughout the weekend we will discuss how these different techniques can add to your current artistic practice.
Some previous experience is required. All tools and materials are provided.
Terms and Conditions:
Course times and places are not transferable. Cork Printmakers does not refund fees paid by participants who subsequently cancel their place. If course participants cannot attend or miss classes Cork Printmakers will not provide alternatives. Cork Printmakers reserves the right to cancel the course with insufficient enrolment, and when this occurs any and all prepaid fees are refunded.
