Nestled at the foot of the old Ballykeeffe Quarry,and just ten minutes outside Kilkenny city, Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre is run entirely by volunteers and brings the authentic atmosphere of an open-air Italian theatre to the rolling Kilkenny countryside. The once-bustling slate quarry had lain abandoned and in disarray for many years, with most indifferent to its very existence.Lying beneath Ballykeeffe Woodland Nature Reserve which stretches to the edge of the quarry, the Amphitheatre now boasts a state-of-the-art steel canopy which perfectly compliments the astounding natural acoustics of the deep quarry walls, providing a magical experience for those attending the array of musical and theatrical performances hosted here.

Altan have been long established as the best and foremost traditional Irish band to come out of Ireland. With their exquisitely produced award-winning recordings,their ground breaking ‘Island Angel’ recording going to no.2 in the Billboard World Music Charts in 1993, ranging dynamically from the most sensitive and touching ancient ballads all the way to the energetic foot-tapping reels and jigs, and their heart warming engaging live performances, Altan have moved audiances from Donegal all the way to Tokyo, to Sydney,Seattle and beyond. Altan’s music is steeped in the rich and colourful heritage of County Donegal in the North West of Ireland.

What can I bring into the event?
Remember to bring  those tickets and get set for an evening of fun and relaxation. This is an outdoor event, so please dress appropriately. 
As part of the licencing agreement, only alcohol purchased on premises may be consumed at the event. At each entry point, a security check will be performed. Any alcoholic beverages found will be confiscated.
Can children attend the event?
Children are always welcome here in Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre but patrons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
Please note that for all up coming events, ID will be checked. Anyone under 18 without an accompanying adult will not be permitted.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The best transport option to the event is by car where there is ample parking on-site. Taxis also service the area from all local towns.
