With Special Guest Speakers

Aidan, Barry & Dann sharing stories of long distance walking, mapping and placenames and climbing peaks for dog rescue.

AIDAN ENNIS - Walking the Edge

Aidan Ennis is a long-distance ultralight hiker with a passion for ambitious expeditions. Among his many epic adventures, in 2024, he completed a through-hike of all 275 Vandeleur-Lynams entirely on foot, a remarkable 2,530km in just 48 days, for which he was named Outsider Man of the Year 2024 by Outsider Magazine. In 2025, Aidan Ennis stepped out his front door in Tramore and set off to trace the entire boundary of County Waterford, a 372km hike along spectacular coastlines, tranquil riverbanks and rugged mountains. Aidan shares the story of this epic walk, and reflects on what truly makes a great adventure.

BARRY DALBY - Lugnaquilla Placenames

Barry Dalby is a vastly experienced Irish hillwalker, cartographer and map publisher with EastWest Mapping. He is also the author of ‘Map Man - Irish Maps & Mapping’. Barry will give a fascinating talk exploring the background and history to place names in the Lugnaquilla area.

DANN COONEY - From Peaks to Pawprints

Dann Cooney is an experienced hillwalker who has turned his passion for the outdoors into a mission to support rescue dogs. Among other things, he has scaled Carrauntoohil 15 consecutive times (the same ascent as Everest) and also climbed Ireland’s highest peak with a door strapped to his back! From Peaks to Pawprints: An Irish Mountain Journey for Rescue Dogs follows Dann’s mission to use hiking as a means of finding new homes for rescue dogs. Each peak he has reached is a reminder that determination, heart, and purpose can make a real difference.
