Event description

Description

Worry and anxiety have become a common problem of childhood. Parents often feel lost about how to support their child and at the same time, encourage them to face into their fears.

In this introductory workshop you will:

Develop a better understanding of anxiety and how it shows itself in children

Learn about difference ways of supporting your child when anxiety happens

Have space to reflect on what it is like for you, in the midst of your child’s overwhelm

The workshop is a condensed or ‘taster session’ of a programme which Jane developed specifically for parents of children who experience anxiety. This is her 8th year of running the programme, which is delivered in 6 weekly sessions. The core psychological theory underpinning the programme has been greatly enriched by the feedback given by the many parents who have attended. Her learning from these parents, especially about what has worked and what hasn’t in their family homes, is what makes Jane’s workshops unique.

Being realistic, attending the workshop is unlikely to lead to anxiety disappearing entirely from family life. However you will leave with a much more informed perspective on anxiety, you’ll have better strategies in your tool box, and you definitely be reassured that you are not alone in your situation.

Who is it for?

The group is aimed at parents of Primary School-aged children ( age 4-13)

The content of the group is designed for parents of children who are considered to be ‘typically developing’. If your child has a diagnosis of an Intellectual Disability or Autistic Spectrum Disorder, while much of the content may be applicable to you and your child’s situation, there will be many aspects that are not.

Cost: Special introductory price of 52 euro plus booking fee

Cost includes a reading list which reviews the best resources (storybooks, workbooks, websites, apps) for both you and your child. Tea and scones will be provided during the 20 minute midmorning break.

Unfortunately a refund is only available up to 7 days before the event. If you cannot attend at short notice, you will be offered a place at the next workshop.
