DOWN BY THE RIVERS EDGE WE GATHER TO PLAY, DISCOVER AND EXPLORE OUTDOORS. OUR CHILD-LED GROUP OFFERS MANY ACTIVITIES AND SUPPORTS CHILDREN AND PARENTS TO CONNECT IN NATURE.

AGE APPROPRIATE RISKY, MESSY, ADVENTUROUS PLAY IS KEY TO THE DAY.

MAKING CLAY FOREST CREATURES, BOW & ARROWS, ELDER PENCILS, WILD PESTO, AND CREATING ROPE BRIDGES TO CROSS THE RIVER ARE JUST SOME OF THE FUN TO BE HAD.

THE FAMILY DAY SUITS AGES 2-8 YEARS OLD AS IT IS CHILD-LED. THE ACTIVITIES ARE ADAPTIVE TO BRIDGE THE ABILITIES OF EACH CHILD.

Frequently asked questions

Do I stay with my child/children?

Yes, as a family day, all children attending must have an adult with them. 1 adult to every 2 mobile children is required

Are babies welcome

Yes, baby wearing is encouraged as we will be moving about at times.

Is the site accessible for buggies or wheelchairs etc.?

Yes, there are some limitations on movement throughout the whole site. Please contact to discuss

Will the day go ahead in wet weather?

Depending on the type of weather, the day will go ahead as normal. Very high winds and weather warnings will not allow the day to proceed. We have Tarps and parachute coverings in case of wet weather and activities are adapted for these days.

Do I pay for babies?

When booking your ticket do not include babies in slings.

What clothing and provisions do I need?

you will be sent a list of what to wear and bring once you have booked your ticket. among these items are wellies, wet gear, spare socks and trousers. A snack and drinks

Are there toilet facilities

The park has public toilets beside the carpark at the main house for urgent needs. We will have a nappy changing/wet cloths pop up tent.

Is there parking?

Cabinteely Park have free carparking facilities through the main entrance also paid parking on the Old Bray Road entrance.

Allergys

Knowledge of allergies is essential as there can be wild food on offer and for our first aid plan to include these in our risk assessments for the day

Are the forest school leaders qualified?

All leaders will be Garda vetted, REC 3 First Aid trained, children first certified & will have a qualification in forest school &/or early years educators.

Refunds

There are no refunds once booked. Where extreme weather causes us to cancel the event we will try to reschedule first. If dates do not suit then a refund can be issued.
