Art Appreciation Course: Art in Ireland 1900-1940s

This four-part art appreciation course led by art historian Jessica Fahy will explore the diverse and exciting influences shaping art in Ireland over the pivotal decades of significant change from 1900 to the 1940s. From the Celtic Revival to the establishment by Hugh Lane of the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, to political turbulence and the founding of the Irish Free State, these illustrated talks will focus on the artistic practice of a variety of artists, their work and influences along with the role, for example, exhibitions, cultural organisations and international contexts have played. A variety of media will be explored including painting, stained glass and sculpture.
