Batik Dyeing Workshop

Pallas Projects/Studios is a publicly funded, not-for-profit initiative run by artists Mark Cullen & Gavin Murphy, operating artists’ studios and a project space in Dublin’s city centre. Pallas Projects/Studios collaborates with peers to engage and develop current Irish contemporary art, through a commitment to solo projects by Irish and international artists, alongside occasional thematic group exhibitions, and exchanges with artists’ groups around Ireland and abroad.

This 2 day workshop is open to adults who have connections to a country with a history of Batik dying or history of Batik dying

On May 3rd and 10th, artist Michella Perera will be running a batik workshop at Pallas Projects/Studios. This 2 day workshop (2.5 hours each day) is open to adults over 18 who have connections to a country with a history of Batik dying or Batik print fabrics. Participants do not need previous experience but must attend both days. Participants are encouraged to share their associations with this cultural dying process during the workshop. We will explore local urban flora and use them to create batik dyed patterns. Art materials will be provided. No prior experience in Batik dying is necessary. Basic conversational English is needed for communication with peers. Only 8 places available so act quickly if you are interested! Please email us if the workshop fee is a barrier to your attendance and we'd be happy to waive it.
