Tree Amigos is a chance for people to make friends with trees, getting to know our

native trees, and their local and global connections. We will welcome a tree indoors,

e.g. hawthorn, get to know the tree, share stories and then create some artworks in

response to our new tree friend.


Hazel Hurley is an artist from Clonakilty, with a background in International

Development, and has completed studies in Permaculture. Hazel works with mostly

non-profit organisations, creating engaging visuals on a variety of topics. A career

highlight was working on the Children and Young People’s assembly on Biodiversity

Loss, which ran parallel to the adults’ citizens assembly on biodiversity loss. She has

also worked with UN Climate Change, graphic recording at international climate

conferences in Egypt and Germany. Hazel is a core member of the Cork community

tree planting group Trees Please. Hazel was a Climate Ambassador with An Taisce

in 2023.
