Brazil on Screen
Brazil on Screen has the absolute is kicking off the cinema club in 126 Artist-Run Gallery!
Limite (1931)Directed by Mário Peixoto | 120 mins | PG
An astonishing creation, Limite is the only feature by Peixoto, made when he was just twenty-two years old. Inspired by a haunting André Kertész photograph, this silent masterpiece follows a man and two women lost at sea, their pasts unfolding through flashbacks set to the music of Erik Satie, Debussy, and Stravinsky.Famously difficult to see for most of the 20th century, it was restored in 2010 by Cinemateca Brasileira and Cineteca di Bologna in association with The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project. It remains one of the most pioneering works of independent Latin American cinema.Let's get weird and experimental!
