About this Event
Bringing Joy Sessions aims to bring joy and delight to people living with dementia and older adults. These workshops have been developed to address the isolation that a dementia diagnosis can bring by providing meaningful and engaging activities.
Target audience: Activities Coordinators, Care partners in nursing homes
Subscription: €60 for six sessions with access to exclusive content on our private YouTube channel
Cost: €15 per session
March Theme: Land of Saints and Scholars
These training sessions will take place on Zoom on the first Wednesday of every month (February to July) for an hour at 10am. The sessions will be recorded and made available for everyone who subscribes to watch again, or if you miss one of the live sessions.
Themes will include: Ireland – Frozen in Time, Land of Saints and Scholars, The Sporting Irish, May Blossom Time and more
As part of the subscription service, we will also offer a series of networking events where care partners can share ideas and discuss best practices.
The theme of the first networking session will be “Better Engagement with People living with Dementia”, and will take place on February 17th at 10am
These workshops and networking sessions will be delivered by Joyce Fitzpatrick. Joyce Fitzpatrick has extensive experience in setting up and running activities for older adults and those with cognitive impairment.
She cared for her own mother living with Alzheimer’s for 17 years while raising her children, and gardening in local schools. She understands how activities need to be person centered, meaningful, easy to set up and fun. She has a background in Botany, Horticulture and Nature Therapy, and studied with Dementia Care Matters, David Sherard, and Bradford and Coventry University.
