An inspiring and transformative seminar focused on fostering workplace wellbeing.

Renowned writer Annie Dillard once said, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” Over the course of your lifetime, you’ll spend somewhere between 80,000-90,000 hours at work. That’s approximately 10 years of your one precious life! If you want to make your workplace better then this FREE seminar is for you.

This is your opportunity to gain valuable insights, discover strategies and practical tips that can transform your organisation into a health promoting setting. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about TUS’s highly sought after master’s in leadership in Workplace Health and Wellbeing - the only level 9 master’s course in Leadership in Workplace Health and Wellbeing in Ireland. This innovative programme and seminar is designed to enable and empower organisations across all sectors to integrate health and wellbeing into their working environment.

Our keynote speaker is:

Nic Marks, Creator of the Five Ways to Wellbeing: we are all very familiar with the Five Ways to wellbeing, but how did they come about? Meet the creator, Nic Marks, at this seminar and also hear how he came to create the Happy Planet Index and the 5 ways to Happiness at work during his time at New Economics Foundation. Nic set up FridayPulse a company specialised in applying the 5 ways to Happiness at Work. As a statistician, a psychotherapist and TED Talk speaker Nic has a unique insight and many ideas worth sharing.


Following our keynote address a number of award winning case studies will be presented.

Sharon Daly, Health and Wellbeing Programme Manager - Iarnrod Eireann/Irish Rail Sharon will outline how she led the Health & Wellbeing programme within Irish Rail, receiving a CIPD Healthy Ireland HR Award in 2023 for “embedding a culture of workplace wellbeing”. Sharon will focus on how Irish Rail engaged their staff across the organisation and ensured that activities were led by staff needs and inclusive of the core values of the organisation. Some of the highlights will include how they recruited a champion network and implemented programmes such as Family Carers, Ignition Go, Smoking Cessation and annual staff health checks.


Patricia McNamara, HR Lead for Recuirtment and Selection - Clare County Council Patricia will focus on how Clare County Council embedded a hybrid working policy and delivered on the benefits. This approach moved beyond the coronavirus response to be a real retention and inclusion initiative. Patricia will also share the multiple strategies they implemented for different staff and also the quantifiable and demonstratable benefits on culture, learning and development. This work has been recognised of recent, through the 2024 CIPD Healthy Ireland HR Awards for “embracing new ways of working”.


Aoife McCarthy, Senior Programme Manager for Employee Experience & Communications - UBER will share her learning and insights within a private multinational organisation. Uber is not only revolutionizing transportation but also redefining the traditional employee journey. Aoife is an expert in optimsing employee engagement, with a track record unlocking excellence in her field. Aoifes leadership played a pivotal role in Ubers recognition as winners of the 2023 CCMA Award for Best Employee Engagement.


Jennifer Reidy TUS programme Graduate and Founder of Compassion Fatigue Ireland - Jennifer graduated from LIT in 2015 with first class honours from the BA in Social Care. She worked on the front line in adult homeless services, child residential settings and with young people and their families. In 2017, Jennifer turned her passion into her career when she founded Compassion Fatigue Ireland, later CFI-Training. Jennifer returned to TUS to complete the MA in Leadership in Workplace Health and Wellbeing, conducting further research on the impacts of secondary traumatic stress in emergency first responders. Jennifer will speak about her experience as a student on the MA, and the impact the programme has had on her career since she graduated in November 2023.
