LIVE PANEL DISCUSSIONS IN ROOM 1

The State of Irish Culture (Hosted by Craig Connolly) 20:20-21:00

Panel: Subset, Jenny Headen (We Are Redhead), Johnny Brennan + Special Guest

Bulmers Forbidden Fruit Festival is a culmination of music, art, design and more, so to give a snapshot of Irish culture in 2018 we’ve assembled a panel to match that. Chaired by Craig Connolly, we’ll have the founder of radical art collective Subset, a surprise guest recording artist, one of the most accomplished music and events PR managers Jenny Headen and award-winning designer and Creative Director of District Magazine Issue 004 Johnny Brennan.

Cultivating homegrown music (Hosted by Eric Davidson) 19:40-20:10

Panel: MathMan & Will Rolfe

Forbidden Fruit lead booker Will Rolfe and renowned producer MathMan will join District Editor Eric Davidson to discuss how tastes have changed in Irish music over the past few years and why it’s important to nurture up-and-coming talent. Since 2017 Bulmers Forbidden Fruit has developed a platform for Irish talent to kick off the festival season on a stage dedicated to the rising stars of our generation. The pair look back on how far the artists from last year have come.

The new pop underground (Hosted by Hannah O’Connell) 19:00-19:30

Panel: Erica Cody, Tara Stewart + Special Guest

In the last few years pop music has become as reputable as the underground. The recent R&B explosion in the UK, Ireland and the US has seen a number of artists with credibility taking over the charts. We discuss how this came to be, the artists making waves and what this means for Irish music. Featuring Erica Cody, who’ll be performing at the Bulmers 100% Irish Stage at Forbidden Fruit, RTE 2FM presenter Tara Stewart and a surprise guest.
