Event description

Description

Waterford PPN and the Dioceses of Waterford and Lismore are joining forces to host an important event on Saturday March 3rd.

Pre- registration is necessary and there is a minimal Fee of €5 which will be collected on the day.

In 2015 Pope Francis issued a ground breaking encyclical entitled Laudato Si – Caring for our Common Home. It is seen by many scientists and theologians as a major contribution in shaking the world out of its complacency about the health of the planet and our children’s future. The encyclical was a cry for action to ‘every person living on the planet.’

The joint endeavour being planned by the PPN and the Dioceses will take place in the St Pauls Parish Centre, Lisduggan, Waterford. Its purpose is to identify local, practical, and implementable actions that the Church and groups affiliated to Waterford PPN can undertake to help increase awareness of the increasingly disastrous effects of climate change and damage to our natural eco systems. Climate change and Biodiversity thus become the two major themes of this conference.

All PPN affiliated groups are invited to attend and participate in this important event.

Among the projects already started and which will enter our discussions at the conference are the Hydro Electric scheme on the Mahon River, the community garden enterprise at Ballybeg, the Dunhill Wetlands project, the ‘greening of some parishes

NB: Pre- registration is necessary and there is a minimal Fee of €5 which will be collected on the day.
