About this event

Free 2 hour workshop on ADHD for professionals working with children and/or their families.

Delivered by CLI Psychologist Karen Costello.

This workshop is suitable for early years, education, health and social care professionals.

During this workshops participants will be presented with information and will take part in a number of activities to help them find out more about ADHD; what it is; and how it affects children’s behaviour and learning. Participants will be introduced to techniques, interventions and strategies to enhance outcomes and ensure success for children experiencing behaviour consistent with ADHD. They will be provided with solutions to common behavioural problems related to ADHD and will have an opportunity to plan strategies using those solutions.

The workshop is aimed at helping professionals to:

  • Learn how to recognise the three subtypes of ADHD and consistent behaviours.
  • Learn how ADHD differs and compares with other common childhood conditions.
  • Increase awareness of executive functioning and it’s role in behaviours consistent with ADHD.
  • Gain an insight into the way children with ADHD process information and how that affects their learning.
  • Help the children they are working with learn positive behaviours.
  • Organise the classroom/setting environment and structure to enable successful participation.
  • Improve the child’s confidence, self-esteem and ability to socialise.
  • Increase the child's participation and strategies that support them to engage more effectively.
