COPE Galway is a local Galway charity working to improve the quality of life, in a home of their own, for people affected by homelessness, women and children experiencing domestic abuse and for older people.We could not continue to provide these vital services without the on-going and generous support of the local Galway community, and our funders.

COPE Galway invite you to take part in a 2-hour fabric upcycling workshop in our Newtownsmith Charity shop for Culture Night 2025!

COPE Galway Charity Shop (Newstownsmith)

COPE Galway invites supporters, clients, staff, volunteers and all other members of the public to join us for an evening of creativity and making. Our ‘Common Thread’ upcycling workshop will guide attendees to create small fabric sculptures, developing basic sewing, embroidery and embellishing skills. Each uniquely crafted ornament will be made using recycled fabrics and materials from COPE Galway charity shops. Through this creative process, we hope to spark meaningful conversations around sustainability, environmental awareness, and the power of repurposing.Held in a central, welcoming setting, the evening is designed to be relaxed and inclusive- a space where people can share stories, exchange ideas, and connect through art, culture, and community.At the end of the evening, participants will be able to take home their creations along with the pattern and instructions for the soft sculptures, encouraging continued creativity and sharing of skills with others.No prior experience is required to join.All ages welcome (Children must be accompanied by an adult. We will be hand sewing using needles, please keep this in mind when booking with young children.)
