About this event

  • 2 hours

Phoenix and Wolfe are a musical fusion of Irish and Brazilian mystique, wonder and sensuality. Amanda Shannon is a native of Ennis, Co Clare and Cairo Rocha hails from Anapolis, Goias, in Brazil. The duo has been cultivating their unique style since 2020. They are influenced by the likes of Sinead O Connor, Clannad, Mark Knopfler, Kiko Loreiro, Garry Moore, Nina Simone and The Breath.

Amanda and Cairo believe in creating music that is both explorative and evocative. They care about connecting with each other and bringing to bear the best of both their countries.

Cairo was trained by a protégé of Gamela who is a renowned composer and arranger in Brazil. He plays both electric and acoustic guitar with delicacy and strength using fingerstyle guitar and jazz influences, or mimicking the drone of seannós.

Amanda was surrounded by music, her dad being a drummer in the tail of the Showband era, and she was also a student of her local Gaelscoil. Her love of the Irish language and the seannós tradition was nurtured carefully.

These sincere and raw songwriters come to you bringing their love of their own culture and of each other’s. A rare and beautiful treat, this is an intimate show that develops in such a way as to wrap itself around you weaving a spell that stays with you long after the music has ceased.

‘The aim of our show is to touch people, we concern ourselves with being sincere and connected on stage. We love singing in each other’s native tongue, cultivating the respect of our ancestors, our roots, our histories. We share our hearts in a bath of music tuned to a healing frequency and we just let go. We have found that by making a show that we love with every fibre of our being it gives more to the audience. We think the use of Irish and Portuguese also brings more to the show, and we are really excited to share our original songs and some Jazz, and seannós greats!.’- Amanda & Cairo

"A sensual mixture of Irish soul and Brazilian heart. So beautiful and exotic. Amanda's warm voice and Cairo's distinctive guitar playing seduce the audience with every note. I was hooked from the minute I heard them" - Dora Gola

"Amanda and Cairo are two of the sweetest people and artists I've ever come across in all my time producing music. Vulnerable, kind-hearted and brave I'm glad they are making art and putting it into the world. We need more pure hearted music in this world, and I am looking forward to all they have to give us" - Enda Gallery

"Phoenix and Wolfe are a mesmerising duo. With luscious and beautiful vocal tones, alongside gorgeous fingerstyle guitar. Melodies full of open-hearted emotion. You can feel their connection from the very first note" SAL

About Ticket Prices;

To make sure that this event is as accessible as possible, we have set up a three tier pricing system.

The first tier is the 'Standard Supporter' price. We've made that as reasonable as possible, while covering all of our expenses.

The second tier is the 'Skint Supporter' price. This is a reduced rate for people who really want to come, but cannot afford the full price. Please only use this if you genuinely need to, as availability is limited.

The third tier is the 'Super Supporter' price. This is for people who feel that they can afford a little more, and who would like to fund the cheaper tickets for those that need them. Super Supporters can pay however much they like, above the standard rate. Any excess funds raised from these tickets will be used to fund future events. If you choose to help in this way, THANK YOU!
