About this event

  • 2 hours

Ru O'Shea is an Offaly-born, Dublin-based folk musician. He works primarily in the area of Arts and Healthcare, utilising the healing and enlivening power of our music in the places it is most needed; hospital, mental-health and elder care services.

Ru is a collaborator with various other ventures; including Erebidae Circus, A Clatter and Drone (psychedelic folk-rock band), aerialist Polina Shapkina, and storytellers Candlelit Tales.

As a solo performer, Ru offers a selection of interpretations of songs from the Celtic canon, and beyond. Also offering original songs, largely inspired by mythology and folk tradition, filtered through a modern lens. Composed and performed with grá.

Sarah Szucs is a Waterford-born, Tipperary-based singer-songwriter with an extensive repertoire of original songs. A solo performer with a unique voice and intricate guitar-playing style. Her lyrics convey the human experience in a way that is relatable, introspective, and often laced with a self-deprecating humour.

Since 2023, Sarah has been emerging onto the live scene, as a solo performer and as a collaborator with Nat Stone, with performances across the country. These include Electric Picnic, Whelan's, and her own feature performance at Cloughjordan's 'Live and Local' series at the Thomas McDonagh museum.

Sarah and Ru share a passion for music. They met at the Cloughjordan jam sessions, playing together there on the regular, before collaborating live this year in Ennistymon for the first time. They have several other upcoming collaborative double-bill performances in the works, including at Birr Vintage Week, and are very much looking forward to bringing it back to county Clare.

About the venue;

Banner Books opened their first shop, in Ennistymon, in 2019. The second shop, here in Kilrush, opened it's doors in 2022. Both shops offer a wide selection of new and used books, and the Kilrush shop hosts regular events for both readers and writers.

The shop is situated at the bottom end of Frances street, near the marina, just a few doors down from Supervalu. There is ample, free parking both on the street and at the marina.

Banner Books are kindly supporting local artists by providing this venue at a very small charge.

About Ticket Prices;

To make sure that this event is as accessible as possible, we have set up a three tier pricing system.

The first tier is the 'Standard Supporter' price. We've made that as reasonable as possible, while covering all of our expenses.

The second tier is the 'Skint Supporter' price. This is a reduced rate for people who really want to come, but cannot afford the full price. Please only use this if you genuinely need to, as availability is limited.

The third tier is the 'Super Supporter' price. This is for people who feel that they can afford a little more, and who would like to fund the cheaper tickets for those that need them. Super Supporters can pay however much they like, above the standard rate. Any excess funds raised from these tickets will be used to fund future events. If you choose to help in this way, THANK YOU!
