About this event

Edel Coffey will speak to Liadán Hynes about dating in rural Ireland, about how and where we meet people, and some of the stories covered in Courting, gathered from speaking to people living in villages, towns, islands and farms. Alongside, Lisa Regan and Betsy Cornwell, whose stories feature in the book, the conversation will cover everything from childhood sweethearts to being single on the apps.

Courting interviewees:

Lisa Regan is Managing Director of Lisa Regan Public Relations, a PR company that combines traditional PR strategies with innovative social media voice and vision. Lisa studied Arts, English Language and Literature at National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and worked as a journalist at the Galway Independent for two years after graduating. In 2011, Lisa founded Lisa Regan PR, where she has been working as a Communications Strategist ever since. Lisa loves anything outdoor based, swims daily and is always either walking, running or cycling around Galway on the daily!

Betsy Cornwell is a New York Times bestselling author, writing teacher, private mentor, and retreat leader. Betsy holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Notre Dame and a BA from Smith College, and she currently teaches at the National University of Ireland Galway. She lives in a historic knitting factory on the west coast of Ireland, which she is working to turn into a funded, childcare-inclusive arts retreat space for single mothers.
