Creating outdoor play opportunities in small urban spaces with Forest Schools facilitator Ciara Hinksman

Date: Saturday, 9th of October, 2021

Time: 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Please arrive by 10:15 a.m. for a prompt start of the workshop.

Venue: National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, D09 VY63

This workshop will give early years staff a chance to experience a host of games and nature themed movement exercises and arts and crafts ideas with some outdoor skills. This workshop is delivered in a Forest Schools style and offers some learner-led elements. It also introduces facilitation elements of risky physical play.ample of physical activities that may be included on the day:

  • Early Years nature songs and movement exercises.
  • Early Years outdoor games - involves colours, patterns, counting and movement.
  • Sensory play - blindfold games, balance games.
  • Sensory explorations through animal games, how to become quiet.
  • Some outdoor arts and crafts with loose parts.

What to bring: This workshop will be held outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather on the day. Please bring a drink and a small snack if you wish as no food or beverages will be provided.

Booking Criteria:

  • This workshop has been prepared specifically for ELC & SAC Providers. Priority will be given to services based within the Dublin City Childcare Committee catchment area.
  • Maximum booking of 2 per service
  • Booking is on a first come, first served basis
  • Places are limited. Since it is very small group, please let us know if you cannot make it on the day. We will offer your place to the people on the waiting list.
  • If this criteria does not apply to you, your booking may be cancelled
