Creative Communities

Réalta is the national resource organisation dedicated to developing arts + health in Ireland. Through its national programme, Réalta delivers training; provides information, mentoring and advice; supports networking; engages policy makers to increase understanding and support for arts + health; and provides the encyclopaedic national resource website artsandhealth.ie.  At local level, Réalta delivers its extensive Waterford Healing Arts programme, which brings arts experiences - music, visual art, creative writing, storytelling - to the bedside of patients at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and other healthcare settings to promotes creativity, connection and discovery, and reduce isolation, anxiety and stress for patients, family members and staff. Core funded by the Arts Council and the HSE.

Following the tremendous success of the online iteration of this event in 2022, the Creative Ireland Waterford Programme, together with the Well Festival partners, are delighted to present an in-person getting-to-know-you session on the theme of arts and wellbeing in Waterford. Showcasing the work of local creative organisations, individuals and community service providers, this event aims to foster collaboration and spark new initiatives. Presentations will be followed by the opportunity to ask questions and make connections. Open to all, but particularly relevant to anyone working or interested in getting involved in the arts in Waterford City and County.Full speaker line-up to follow.Adm free but registration essential. Please follow the links on this page to register. The Well Festival of Arts &amp; Wellbeing celebrates the health benefits of participation in the arts by all. Presented by Waterford Healing Arts in partnership with Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford City and County Libraries, the Well Festival champions the links between arts and wellbeing and increases public engagement through a wide-ranging programme of innovative free events for all ages across many art forms, including music, art, dance, film, poetry, theatre and literature.
