ANDY IRVINE
Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself." Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his over 50-year career. From Sweeney's Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, his duo with Paul Brady in the later 70s and then from Patrick Street to Mozaik, LAPD and Usher’s Island, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians.
DONAL LUNNY
Dónal Lunny is popularly regarded as having being central to the renaissance of Irish Music over the last three decades.
Since the seventies Dónal has had involvement with some of the most innovative bands to emerge from Ireland including Planxty, the Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Coolfin, and more recently Mozaik. He has toured across the world, collaborating with musicians of many different cultures.
Dónal co-founded Mulligan Records and produced 17 albums for the label. Since then he has produced tracks for, and collaborated on albums with Kate Bush, Mark Knopfler, Indigo Girls, Clannad, and Baaba Maal among others. He produced the internationally acclaimed album for EMI, ‘Common Ground’, featuring such artists as Bono, Neil and Tim Finn, and Elvis Costello.
He continues his work in studio production, also occasionally composing music for theatre, television and film.
A member of Aosdána, in 2008 Dónal received an Honorary Doctorate in music from Trinity College. In 2009 he was appointed Artist in Residence at the University of Limerick, where he frequently teaches.
NAVA
Navá is a group of young musicians exploring the relationship between the ancient musical cultures of Ireland and Persia. It is comprised of folk/bluegrass musicians Paddy Kiernan and Niall Hughes, and Iranian born brothers Shahab and Shayan Coohe. Since forming in early 2016 they have performed at Bray Jazz Festival, Electric Picnic, Celtic Connections Festival, IMBOLC Festival, as part of the 'Listen At' and ‘Kaleidoscope’ concert series, and have received national airplay on RTE1's 'Arena Arts Show' and RTE Lyric FM's 'The Blue of the Night'.
Their debut album, ‘Tapestry’ was recorded at Hellfire Studios, an intimate studio in the Dublin Mountains, overseen by Adrian Hart (I Draw Slow, Yurodny) and Tony Byrne (Julie Fowlis, Danù), and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
The album charts a unique sonic landscape, weaving material from the Irish and Persian traditions into a beguiling tapestry of sound, and treats listeners to a joyous exploration of the connection between two venerable musical cultures.
THE DAVIES BROTHERS
Eoin and Brian Davies are identical twin singer-songwriters from County Clare, Ireland. Writing and performing as ‘The Davies Brothers’, their raw, honest songs, natural harmonic blends and intuitive on-stage chemistry will captivate any audience. Hailing from a small corner of the country that boasts a large, thriving music scene, The Davies Brothers have been majorly influenced by many artists that have close connections to the North West Clare area, such as Luka Bloom, Mick Flannery, The Walls, SON (Susan O’Neill), Steo Wall, SAL (Sara Ryan), The O'Connell Brothers and many more. Their creativity flows easily, inspired by a somewhat rough and wild way of rural living, a difficult upbringing, relationships, loss and a unique perspective on life garnered from their time living, writing and performing music in Cork City while also studying a BA in popular music (Vocals and Bass) at Cork School of music.
Sweet Salvation is the second official single release for identical twins and singer-songwriter duo The Davies Brothers. It is their first full band studio recording, produced by Christian Best at Monique Studios, Co.Cork in 2019 and released on all platforms on the 14th of January 2022. An intriguing folk track with striking almost harsh vocals, rebellious lyrics and a message of revolution, all tied together with silky sweet harmony and soft but lively instrumentation.
The upcoming year promises to be an exciting one for The Davies Brothers, whose creativity flows easily at home in North West Clare, inspiring music and lyrics conveying experience beyond their years. Over the past couple of years, they have enjoyed performing original sets in pioneering music venues across the country, including Kenny’s bar Co. Clare, Coughlan’s, Co. Cork, The Roisin Dubh, Co. Galway and Mike the pies, Co. Kerry, as well as supporting well known Irish acts such as Mick Flannery and Hudson Taylor and The Walls. They also played as headliners on the main stage of the IMRO short-listed Doolin Folk Festival back in 2019.
The brothers are currently recording their demo debut album at home while spending time recording singles in different studio settings to ultimately prepare for the production of their much anticipated and long overdue debut studio album. A debut E.P. is expected by the end of the year with the album soon after, no doubt you will be hearing a lot more from this versatile avid songwriting duo.
