About this Event
Suitable for children and families
Once kids are riding their own bikes it won’t be long before they need a bit of maintenance, and teaching kids to keep an eye on the condition of their bike could stop a small problem becoming a big problem. This workshop will be a combination of demonstration and hands on activities to try on any bikes you have at home. This will include: basic rules for nuts and bolts; checking for loose bearings; adjusting saddle height; checking wheel nuts are tight; how to know what size of wheel a bike has; how to pump up a tyre; finding punctures in an inner tube; checking and tightening brakes; oiling chains; giving the bike a quick clean.
List of materials needed to do hands-on activities at home: a set of spanners OR an adjustable spanner and ruler, Allen keys and Screwdrivers, Chain Oil, a spare rag for cleaning, a bike pump OR car foot pump, pliers, one or two bikes to use for the activities.
This is a family workshop and everyone is inveted!
