Designing a Joint Course for an Impact-Oriented PhD Programme

Irish universities each offer distinct doctoral training environments yet IS PhD students across the country share a common need: rigorous, high-quality preparation for conducting impactful research that addresses real-world challenges.

This in-person round table discussion intends to bring together IS faculty and researchers from all Irish universities to explore the design of a joint course tailored specifically to IS doctoral students. The session will focus on defining the scope and learning outcomes of such a course, identifying mechanisms for cross-institutional delivery, and aligning the curriculum with the evolving demands of impact-oriented research in the discipline.

Participants will engage in structured discussions to shape the agenda, share insights from their own institutional contexts, and co-develop a practical framework that could be adopted collectively across Ireland.
