Digital Pathways into Learning Languages (Seminar 2)

Having recently completed her PhD on Language Policy in the IoT sector, Una has embarked upon her post doctural campaign to promote language learning both locally and nationally.  She is actively involved in the twinning of Letterkenny with the German town, Rudolstadt and has organised Information Evenings and seminars for second level teachers of French, German, Irish and Spanish.  Una is currently a member of the Community of Practice for language teachers in Donegal.

The second seminar in the National Forum series Digital Pathways into Learning Languages will take place on Friday 18th January from 5 pm until 7 pm in Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Two guest speakers will be joining Úna on this occasion.
Minister for Education, Joe McHugh will speak about the government’s Languages Connect strategy and his own personal journey of learning Irish.
Dr Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl, who is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow with the National Institute of Digital Learning in Dublin City University, will describe her extensive experience in the area of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). Mairéad’s research interests are interdisciplinary and include technology in teaching and learning, policy implementation and organisational change in higher education.
