dlr LexIcon Workshop: From 2D to 3D
Overview

KCAT artist Erin Hacking will lead this adult workshop, exploring how drawings on paper can be turned into colourful 3D artworks.

Tickets will be available to the public on May 04 2026.

Over one hour, participants will learn a process developed by Erin in which they will create abstract geometrical drawings using pencils and rulers, which they will cut and open out to form delicate dimensional paper works.

Erin Hacking joined KCAT studio in 2021, having spent several years attending a range of KCAT courses. As one of the newest studio members, Erin has quickly developed a dedicated and searching body of self-directed work across drawing, painting, paper cutting and sculpture. Erin aspires to continue exhibiting her work having already shown in several exhibitions, including 'Reconnections' at the Powerhouse gallery Callan.

There is an inherent playfulness in Erin’s approach to artmaking, evident for example in her fabrication of expressive and colourful paper handbags. When making drawings, Erin often begins by working with a ruler to draw intersecting lines on a page.

Ultimately, Erin embraces art as an exciting journey of discovery, in which preliminary ideas or processes are always starting points to develop, experience and convey new possibilities.

We have free places secured for unwaged participants: to sign up for a free place, please email arts@dlrcoco.ie.

If you will be accompanied by a carer or have any access requirements that we can assist with, please email arts@dlrcoco.ie.
