About this event
After having to postpone last April as the country went into lockdown, MTU Cork LGBT* Society will finally be launching the ‘Dragging Up The Past’ documentary on Friday 12th of February. The documentary which is funded by MTU Arts Office and Chambers, highlights the colourful history of drag in Cork using interviews and archival footage, and will be launched online with a virtual Q&A session featuring the film makers, and some of the documentaries drag Stars including Fabula Di Beaumarchais, Kitty Cartier, Candy Warhol, Letycha Le'Synn, Mia Gold and Eddie Kay. The Queen of Ireland Panti Bliss will join our Q&A to discuss this rich history and her involvement through the Alternative Miss Ireland drag pageant. And we'll also be joined by West-End and Broadway Makeup and Wig designer, close friend, makeup artist and assistant to Corks own Danny La Rue, Richard Guy Mawbey.
This event is a free online event. While the event is free, we had always planned to raise funds for the Gay Project who inspired this project at the beginning. However, due to the Covid-19 safe format we now have to take, we ask that anyone in a position to, kindly donate a few euro to the Gay Project by going to www.gayproject.ie. And we appreciate all the support you can offer them in continuing their fantastic work.
Ticket holders will be sent the login link on the morning of the event via email.
