Ignite your bushcraft passion with our Ember Essentials workshop! This event is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who want to master the foundational skill of firecraft. Perfect for families and individuals alike, this experience will teach you ancient and modern techniques for fire building, maintenance, and safety in the wilderness.

Activities:

  • Fundamental Fire Laws: Understanding the science behind fire
  • Gathering and Preparing: Identifying and collecting tinder, kindling, and fuelwood
  • Fire Lays and Structures: Constructing teepees, log cabins, and star fire layouts
  • Ignition Techniques: Using flints, ferro rods, and friction methods
  • Fire Management: Learning how to control and extinguish fires safely
  • Cooking on an Open Flame: Preparing a simple meal using fire
  • Environmental Impact: Practicing Leave No Trace principles

Participant Requirements:

  • Ages 8 and up (minors must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Suitable outdoor clothing
  • Pre-registration and signed waiver

Who can attend the event?

The event is designed for families. Children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by adults. The activities are tailored to engage both adults and children in learning and fun. Tickets are only required for children of 8+ years.

Can adults attend without children?

Yes, all families are welcome. This includes grown-up children or those without children.

Do I need to bring any cooking equipment or ingredients?

No, all necessary cooking equipment and ingredients for the activities will be provided. However, families are encouraged to bring a packed lunch to enjoy. Don't forget to bring a waterbottle.

What should we wear?

Dress for the outdoors! We recommend weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and layers are advisable.

Is there a cost to participate?

Yes, there is a participation fee which covers the cost of materials, equipment, and instruction. Please refer to our registration page for the most up-to-date pricing.

How do I register for the event?

You can register by purchasing a ticket on this page. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure your spot.

What if the weather is bad?

The event will proceed rain or shine, thanks to our covered cooking area. However, in the case of severe weather conditions that may pose safety concerns, the event may be rescheduled. Participants will be notified in advance.

Are there any safety precautions in place?

Yes, safety is our top priority. All participants will be briefed on safety protocols related to fire handling at the beginning of the event. A first aid kit and a trained first aider will always be on site.

Can I cancel my registration?

Cancellations can be made up to a week before the event for a 90% refund. Please contact our team as soon as possible if you need to cancel or modify your registration.
