Event description

Description

Alongside the GUE/NGL group in the Parliament, and as part of my work on that Committee, I will host a conference in Limerick this coming June on the theme of equality in education. Tackling inequality, in all its forms, is vital to achieving a just and inclusive society. This is especially the case when it comes to our education systems, where achieving real equality can have profoundly positive impacts on individuals and on society.

The conference will address a range of topics under this theme, including:

  • ending discrimination,

  • ensuring equality of access

  • guaranteeing language equality

  • responding to drop-out at secondary and tertiary levels

  • vindicating the rights of learners with special needs

  • achieving fairness for education sector workers

As a member of the Education Committee I want to hear from experts and advocates on how best policy-makers can help achieve equality in all parts of our education system.
