David Doocey

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts and now living in Foxford, County Mayo, David Doocey is at the forefront of a younger generation of musicians. A multi instrumentalist and consummate session musician in several music genres, he has won several awards over the years, including All-Ireland medals on both fiddle and concertina and the first ever World Fleadh fiddle championship in 2005.

2013 saw the release of David’s debut solo album ‘Changing Time’ and in 2022, the release of an album with 'NxNW', featuring David Doocey, Stephen Doherty, Ryan Molloy and Kieran Leonard.

The South Sligo Summer School was founded in 1987 in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo to conserve and promote the rich tradition of music, song and dance of the area. With a full programme of classes, workshops, céilithe, concerts, recitals and talks, there is special emphasis on the old Sligo traditional style of playing.
