About this event

  • 2 hours

Join FarmPEAT and the Climate Ambassador Programme for a field trip on a Project Farm in Ardnaglug, Co. Roscommon to explore the management of agricultural peat soils.

During the event, we'll see how dams slow the flow of water in farm drains and discuss the benefits of raising the water table for climate and nature. We will also demonstrate how scorecards work in results-based agri-environmental schemes and help you try out the scorecards yourself.

The field trip is ideal for anyone interested in farming, soils, climate action, and biodiversity.

When: 11-1 pm on Friday 3rd May

Where: Meeting at Taughmaconnell Community Centre and carpooling to the nearby project farm.

After the field trip, you are welcome to join FarmPEAT for the afternoon event 'Farmers of Ballynamona Bog - Community Gathering'.

Will there be toilet facilities?

There are toilets at Taughmaconnell Community Centre (where we will meet and return to after the field trip), but not at the site itself.

Is this event wheelchair-accessible?

The terrain at the site will be wet, boggy ground which is, unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchair users. If you have other accessibility needs, please contact Katie on katie@farmpeat.ie.
