Event description
Music Workshop for 12 - 18 year olds with Irish Baroque Orchestra as part of Finding A Voice concert series

About this Event

As part of the Finding A Voice concert series, the Irish Baroque Orchestra will do a workshop in partnership with Music Generation on Saturday 29th February. Targeted at 12-18 year olds, it will be of interest to traditional players as well as people studying music.

A talk by internationally renowned baroque violinist and Irish Baroque Orchestra leader, Claire Duff, around the lives and works of the composers in the La Donna Barocca programme. There will be two violins, a singer and a harpsichord player from IBO on hand to provide plenty of musical illustrations. They’ll perform demonstrations of different styles and sounds, and the IBO leader Claire Duff will talk and explain the instruments and the Baroque style.

Irish Baroque Orchestra is an early music ensemble based in Ireland. The Irish Baroque Orchestra is acclaimed as Ireland's flagship period music ensemble and delivers historically-informed performances to the highest standards at home and abroad

Their concert in the 2020 concert series - La Donna Barocca - sees the supremely talented Irish Baroque Orchestra bring the music of seventeenth-century French and Italian composers back to vibrant life. Opening with twelfth-century mystic, Hildegard of Bingen, this concert includes the music of Francesca Caccini, Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and Antonia Bembo, as well as Ursuline nun Isabella Leonarda, whose 400th anniversary is being celebrated in 2020.

Workshop attendees can avail of a special €5 ticket to the IBO concert to see the full ensemble perform.
