About this event

  • 3 hours 30 minutes

Can you take the heat? We are looking for brave souls to take on a fiery challenge with a difference.

We are inviting YOU to face your fears and do something you might think is impossible - walk along a 20 foot lane of burning hot embers.

This event will be run under the watchful eye of Karen Sterling from 'Blaze, the fire walking experts'. Karen has been fire walking for 30 years and managing Blaze for the last 12. In total Karen has over 2500 fire walking events under her belt (blazefirewalking.com).

Karen will take all walkers through the 'Learn or Burn' training prior to the challenge itself.

Entry is £30 and all fire walkers should aim to raise £150 in sponsorship for Amber's work with young people facing homelessness, long term unemployment and mental ill health.

Group Offer - Firewalking is a great team building exercise so make a team with your colleagues, friends or family! Limited number of reduced price entry fee for groups of up to 5.

All walkers must be 14 or over on the day of the event (under 16s must have parental consent).

This event is a spectacle so don't forget to bring your family and friends to watch and cheer you on. Refreshments will be available.

Please note this event is going to be held at our supported housing centre so no alcohol is allowed on site.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Fire Walk?

It's the practice of walking barefoot on hot embers. A Blaze Firewalk is designed to help transform fear and to inspire people to do things they didn't think possible. It can show you that there is more to 'reality' than you think, that many limitations we experience in life are self-imposed.

Why is the training mandatory?

Everyone must take part in this training, it’s the best part, the firewalk is a bonus! The training is based around proven motivational and psychological methods. It doesn’t involve any elements of hypnosis, spiritual training, ‘brainwashing’ or voodoo.

Can I bring my family and friends to watch?

Friends and family are encouraged to come along and support you and the other walkers at this exciting event. Spectators are welcome from 7.30pm. We’re sorry but friends and family, including your children, won’t be allowed to watch the training.

Are there age limits?

The minimum age is 14 years of age; parental consent is required for 14–15year olds. There is no upper age limit. The oldest person that has firewalked with Blaze was 89!

Does it hurt?

What you think it going to feel like and what it actually feels like are completely different. There are physical reasons why firewalking is possible. These will be explained during the training. The hardest thing to overcome is the fear of taking the first step, as it is a new experience!

Organised by

The Amber Foundation provides housing and support to young adults (aged 18-30) facing complex challenges like homelessness, long term unemployment and mental ill health.

At our supported housing centres in Devon, Wiltshire, Surrey and Kent we work hard to maintain peaceful and caring environments where young people feel safe. We recognise that a holistic approach is key and supporting young people to improve their independent living skills and helping them become more ready for employment need to go hand in hand with ensuring they are in the right place emotionally and psychologically to live independently.
