Join Ecologist & Understory Founder Alex Konieczka to discover the fascinating world of permaculture and regenerative farming in our local Greystones Community Garden. You will discover several practical and natural tips and ideas to improve soil health, deter pests, reduce waste, improve yield and result in healthier harvests. You will leave this workshop with plenty of know-how to implement in your own garden space, big or small. No previous experience necessary. This 3-hour workshop will have plenty of time for group discussion & questions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the different systems used to grow food and their impacts.
  • Explore regenerative farming and permaculture practices to garden and grow food.
  • Learn natural and useful ways to grow organic food and gardens by following permacultre techniques.

What is permaculture?

Permaculture is a type of food system that utilises land, resources, people and the environment in a manner that doesn't produce any waste and encourages the use of closed loop systems as seen in nature. It aims to create sustainable & productive systems without negatively impacting the environment.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Please bring with you a water bottle, sunscreen and snacks. All materials for the workshop are provided.

The workshop takes place at the Kilcoole Greystones Community Garden to the right of Shoreline Greystones.

Alex Konieczka, a local ecologist and founder of Understory. Understory is an environmental education and zero-waste organisation dedicated to providing experiential learning experiences.
